Handcrafted Jewelry from the Southwest

oted best shopping on Mill Avenue in Tempe, Arizona just one year after its debut, MoonAge is the brainchild of Tyler Greene and Kelli Van, both metalsmiths who create jewelry with a southwest flavor. By focusing on making affordable yet high quality jewelry for the modern collector, MoonAge has quickly became a favorite in the boho chic tribe.

Spirit Guides talked with Greene and Van about the inspiration behind their name and their love of the southwest.

When and how did MoonAge come to be?

We started MoonAge in 2014. We wanted to have a space where local artists like us could sell their pieces. We were both tired of working more than full-time jobs and wanted to create something of our own. Owning our own company was a daydream that we made a reality!

Was the name MoonAge inspired by Bowie or something less cool?

Yes, it was inspired by Bowie! He was the ultimate trendsetter and we love the music. We wanted our brand to reach like-minded people who were looking for a different experience. We even sell a Bowie Signet Ring and a MoonAge Daydream Candle that will take you right back to 1971!

You live in Arizona and make southwest inspired jewelry. Many people feel there is something seriously spiritual about the southwest, do you feel that vibe?

Yes, we love living in the southwest and are influenced by our surroundings daily. There is something magical about the desert and our cotton candy skies.

When you get to escape from work and the heat of Phoenix, where is your guys’ favorite place to Zen out?

We love to go up to Sedona or take a road trip to southern California.

What can we expect to see from MoonAge in the future?

More awesome jewelry that’s affordable but will last—we believe in quality above anything.
